New President for European Alliance of News Agencies

Mr Uffe Riis Sorensen, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Danish news agency Ritzaus Bureau has been elected President for two years of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA). He succeeds Mr Andreas Christodoulides, General Director of the Greek news agency ANA who has been the President for two years and had decided not to stand for re-election.

New members of the EANA'sBureau are Mr Giuseppe Cerbone, CEO and Managing Director of the Italian news agency ANSA and Mr Mikhail Gusman, First Deputy Director General of the Russian news agency ITAR-TASS who have been elected for three years. Together with earlier elected Mr Paul Tesselaar, Managing Director of the Dutch news agency ANP and EANA'sSecretary General Erik Nylen they will form the Bureau.

The European Alliance of News Agencies was founded in 1956 and comprises 30 European news agencies. EANA is a non-profit membership association and serves as a pan-European professional forum for contacts and co-operation as well as exchange of information, experiences and know-how among its members.
